A new recruitment drive has launched today (August 2) to raise awareness of the career opportunities in Cornwall’s adult social care sector

Cornwall Council and independent care providers are appealing to both experienced care workers and those new to the profession to take up a range of full and part-time vacancies being advertised now across the social care sector.

The campaign ‘Cornwall Needs You Now’ is aimed at applicants who want to make a difference in their communities including:

  • School or college leavers and other new recruits;
  • Those re-entering social care after a break;
  • People from different professions with transferable skills looking for a career change;
  • Those who are looking for a job with flexible hours that fit around their other commitments.

Permanent and temporary vacancies are available now to view on the Proud to Care Cornwall website.

Cornwall Council portfolio holder for Adults and Public Health, Cllr Andy Virr said: "As part of our ongoing response to the pandemic and to the continuing needs of our ageing and vulnerable population, we are telling all potential jobseekers that Cornwall Needs You Now to fill our vital social care roles.

"You may have some experience of working in care or you may be completely new to caring - there are a range of job levels available, flexible working hours, full training and support and plenty of opportunities for progression to senior roles including managerial positions.

"What we need now are people of all ages and backgrounds with empathy and a caring nature to work in our social care settings."

Candidates will be supported to identify available opportunities and to find their ideal job match.

Vacancies are open now on the Proud to Care Cornwall website. Full training will be given to those new to the sector, with PPE provided by employers.

Cornwall’s contracted home care providers pay the Foundation Living Wage, alongside other benefits, and are committed to helping people achieve a long-term career in health and social care.
