A spooky attraction in Bodmin has been listed as a finalist for a prestigious national award.

Bodmin Jail, Cornwall’s brand-new immersive visitor experience has been successfully shortlisted as a finalist for the unrivalled badge of excellence – the 2021 AV Awards.

The AV Awards is the benchmark for the highest possible professional standards and best practice, recognising the outstanding achievements of individuals, companies, projects and technology across the AV, events and production sectors.

Following an £8.5m investment, Bodmin Jail worked closely with Sarner International Ltd – an experiential design and build company, to develop a visitor experience that retells tales of crime, punishment and horrible history aplenty.

The overall experience, that transports visitors back to Cornwall’s murky and foreboding past, combines cinematic theatrics and retells the gruesome stories of smugglers, wreckers and the infamous inmates who paid the ultimate price at the end of the hangman’s rope.

The 2021 AV Awards will take place on November 5 at London Evolution.
