Emergency and rescue services in Cornwall have warned festival-goers to look after themselves and others if they're heading down to a popular festival this week.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, alongside partner agencies such as the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, RNLI, South Western Ambulance Service and Devon & Cornwall Police are warning visitors to this year's Boardmasters festival to take precautions to ensure the event is Covid-safe.

In an update on its social media channel, which was then shared by several other agencies, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "If you're heading off to Boardmasters this weekend, please keep yourselves safe & take the time to look at Boardmasters Festival Safe guide.

"Whether you’re a first-timer or a hardened veteran, there is something on Festival Safe for everyone."

In addition to sharing the message from Cornwall Fire and Rescue, HM Coastguard Area 11 Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Coastal Safety added its own advice on to the end of the warning, saying: "We hope you have a great time, just don't forget your suncream!

"The sun has got his hat on!

"In addition to their sound advice;

  • Stay away from the cliff edges
  • Don’t go near the water if you’ve had a skin full #DontDrinkandDrown
  • Don’t walk off in a strop all alone and panic your friends.
  • Look after each other and stay in the safe areas where there will be stewards to help you if you need it.

"Always remember if you see someone at risk near the coast or sea call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."

Boardmasters has also published its own Covid-19 policy on its website and state that all guests will be required to show their Covid-19 status in one of three ways;

  • Proof of a negative Lateral Flow Test taken within 24 hours of arrival at the festival gates
  • Proof of being vaccinated with both doses (with the second dose being received at least 14 days before the festival)
  • Proof of natural immunity following a positive PCR test (providing it has been at least 10 days since the PCR test and up to 180 days after taking the test)
