Cornwall has seen another rise in the number of deaths in the county with four new ones recorded in yesterday's figures.

The number of new daily cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly yesterday has fallen to 238 in the last 24 hours, following a high of 308 on Monday.

The total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) in the most recent seven-day period given, which is on a delay, has risen to 1,744 in the seven days leading up to August 5, from 1,679 on Monday.

It means the weekly case rate average now stands at 303 cases per 100,000 people, compared to 291.7 cases on Monday.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 26,365.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of Tuesday, August 10, shows 23,510 new cases.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 6,117,540.

As of today the combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic remains at 283, following three further deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust with one on August 6 and two more on August 8.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic is now 220, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 63.

The government update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – is now at 490 in the 28 days after a positive Covid test.

The number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is now at 585 in the most recent data available. It shows the new death occurred in the week leading up to Friday, July 30, the most recent date given, with this total updated weekly.

The overall UK figures show that 146 more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result. Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 130,503. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Monday, August 10 a total of 47,091,889 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 39,551,538 have had their second dose.

In Cornwall it is 424,827 with their first dose and 361,032 with their second.
