Events businesses and companies in Newquay are being urged to apply for 2021/22 grants to help get the area's events sector back on its feet.

This week the Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) has announced the opening of its 2021/2022 event funding pot

According to Newquay BID, £12,000 has been made available for events set to be held within the BID boundary area within the next year.

The grant application process is open to all businesses, commercial organisations, voluntary and community groups and event organisers who are proposing any events within the Newquay BID boundary area.

The specific BID funding pot has been created to assist with the running of new or pre-existing events, and looks to help boost and facilitate bigger and better events.

All potential events are being asked to consider how they can operate from a low cost, high impact perspective and organisers say that funding applications should focus on how the support will help events re-establish themselves in a safe manner as the organisers and surrounding community works through the ongoing pandemic.

Newquay BID Manager, Carla-Marie Jones, said: "The support and promotion of sustainable Newquay sporting, lifestyle and community cohesion events forms a key part of our BID’s strategic vision to continually create a more vibrant town and fits into our five-year business plan.

"Successful and fitting events are at the core of Newquay’s calendar and we’re all very well aware that this is a key sector that has struggled greatly over the last year and a half.

"Therefore, we are keener than ever to provide critical additional finance to enable a safe and successful bounce back for pre-existing events, or to seed-fund new event concepts that fit within our vision.

"Newquay BID has often been seen as a catalyst for events over the years and we have regularly assisted event organisers with funding, coordinating, planning and guidance alongside the organisation of our own BID led events.

"Its great to see this finally being able to make a comeback.

"This work, and the BID events funding pot, is seen to add vital value to both the visitor and resident experience whilst generating growth for the town’s businesses so we’re very much looking forward to seeing this year’s applications and hearing all of the cool things this adaptive and resilient sector has in the pipeline for the future."

Newquay BID Directors will begin to review the first tranche of applications and award funding based on eligibility criteria and in line with strategic events vision early September.

All previous event’s organisers who have worked with Newquay BID previously will have already been issued notification of this event funding pot and forms directly via their registered email addresses.

Companies, groups and organisations wishing to apply for the first time can do so via the forms that are now live and available from newquaybid.co.uk/media_downloads/ or you can talk more to the team and request them via email to info@newquaybid.co.uk
