An update on tonight's Red Arrows display in Falmouth has been made in the last few minutes.

Despite earlier saying that that the RAF team had landed in Exeter and were still hoping to perform, Falmouth Week organisers have now given a further update to say that the display is now NOT taking place.

In a statement they said: "Red Arrows update: Adecision had to be made by the RAF Red Arrows team and we are gutted to announce that the Red Arrows will not be able to fly in this weather.

"Thanks to everyone involved and to everyone who has supported the display - Gylly Beach Café, Vision Independent Financial Planning, Pendennis Shipyard Ltd, Falmouth Cornwall UK, Falmouth Town Council, UK."

The display had been planned to take place over Falmouth seafront at 6.15pm this evening and at 4pm this afternoon the acrobatic team announced that they would be coming.

The decision comes as a surprise as low cloud and drizzle are forecast for this afternoon and this evening.

Thousands of people had been expected to turn up to see the iconic red Hawk T1 planes perform in the skies above the town as part of Falmouth Week, with the roads around town exceptionally busy.

A statement issued earlier this afternoon issued by the Falmouth Week organisers said: "We have received information from the RAF Red Arrows. They have arrived in Exeter and are still hoping to perform a display over Falmouth seafront.

"It’s looking wet and windy out right now but the weather is constantly changing so we have all that they will make an appearance at 6.15pm. We will of course update you all as soon as we receive more information."
