Cornwall daily Covid cases have fallen again today after a big jump yesterday, but the weekly rate continues to rise.

The number of new daily cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has risen to 291 in the last 24 hours, from 420 yesterday.

The total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) in the most recent seven-day period given, which is on a delay, has risen to 1,966 in the seven days leading up to August 7, from 1,883 yesterday.

It means the weekly case rate average now stands at 341.6 cases per 100,000 people, compared to 327.2 cases on Wednesday.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 27,076.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of today (Thursday), shows 33,074 new cases, up from 29,612 yesterday.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 6,179,506.

As of today the combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic remains at 283, following one further death last Friday, August 6 and two more on Sunday, August 8.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic is now 220, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 63.

The government update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remains at 490 in the 28 days after a positive Covid test.

The number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is now at 585 in the most recent data available. It shows that one new death occurred in the week leading up to Friday, July 30, the most recent date given, with this total updated weekly.

The overall UK figures show that 104 more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result. Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 130,701. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Wednesday, August 11 a total of 47,170,968 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 40,013,470 have had their second dose.

In Cornwall it is 425,153 with their first dose and 364,363 with their second.
