Daily new cases remained have fallen slightly in Cornwall today, while the weekly average has remained practically static since yesterday.

The number of new daily Covid-19 cases reported in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has fallen slightly to 273 in the last 24 hours, from 299 yesterday.

The total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) in the most recent seven-day period given, which is on a delay, now stands at 2,191 in the seven days leading up to August 10, from 2,190 yesterday.

It means the weekly case rate average now stands at 380.5 cases per 100,000 people, down minimally from 380.7 yesterday.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 28,349.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of today (Monday), shows 28,438 new cases, up from 28,076 yesterday.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 6,295,613.

New hospital deaths are now only reported on weekdays by NHS England.

In the most recent update today, the combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic rose to 284, following one further death on Wednesday last week (August 11).

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic is now 221, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 63.

However, the government update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remaining at 490 in the 28 days due to a difference in reporting time.

The number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is now at 585 in the most recent data available. It shows that one new death occurred in the week leading up to Friday, July 30, the most recent date given, with this total updated weekly.

The overall UK figures show that 26 more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result. Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 130,979. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Sunday, August 15 a total of 47,333,702 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 40,703,581 have had their second dose.

In Cornwall it is 425,663 with their first dose and 371,986 with their second.
