It was a busy night for emergency service volunteers last night after Penlee and Sennen lifeboats, cliff rescue teams and coastguuards were called out to assist three people in two separate incidents.

Just before 8pm, the inshore lifeboat crew were called out to reports of two people being injured after falling from a footpath onto the beach at Pedn Vounder.

At the same time, another inshore lifeboat was tasked with assisting a person who had also fallen and suffered serious injuries at Porth Chapel.

In an update posted on its social media page, a spokesperson for Penlee Lifeboat said: "Penlee Inshore lifeboat ‘Mollie and Ivor Dent’ was tasked at 7.57pm following reports of two persons injured after falling from the footpath onto the beach at Pedny Vounder.

"Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team, who were already in attendance, requested the ILB to conduct a medical evacuation as it was to dangerous to extract the casualties by ropes up the cliff face.

"At the same time Sennen Cove Lifeboat Station’s Inshore lifeboat ‘Amy Brown’ was tasked to a person who had also fallen and suffered severe injuries at Porth Chapel.

"The Coastguard rescue helicopter paramedic, Lands End Coastguard Search & Rescue Team, and a paramedic from South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust were also on scene.

"Sennen Cove all-weather lifeboat `RNLB City of London III’, which had just towed a dismasted yacht to Newlyn from NW of the Wolf, was also on scene.
