Falmouth Town Council has expressed its disappointment after a 'dangerous' knife was left on a popular beach.

The gold handled knife was left on Gyllyngvase Beach but was found before anybody could be hurt. it is not know how the knife ended up on the beach, although the explanation could be entirely innocent.

The council urged people if they have a day on the beach to take things home with them, especially knives.

Falmouth Packet:

"It is so disappointing to see dangerous items like this knife left in the sand on Gyllyngvase Beach. Luckily, it was found before anyone was hurt.

"If you have a day at the beach, make sure to take everything with you. Let’s work together to keep our beaches safe."

The find follows problems on Gyllyngvase Beach earlier in the year when fires were lit and used barbecues left behind. Nails, burnt wood and rubbish were left on the beach for volunteers to clear up.

Falmouth Town Council and Safer Falmouth, the multi-agency partnership working to reduce and prevent crime, disorder, and anti-social behaviour, is asking for everyone’s help in keeping Falmouth’s beaches safe for residents, visitors and marine life.

They say that problems like open fires, dog fouling and littering can threaten the public’s safety and could lead to the loss of a beaches’ Blue Flag status.
