Taking Space are a group of women artists established in 1993 and have exhibited widely.

They group are organised democratically and seek to exhibit varied art from their members.

Last year’s show had to be postponed and they are really looking forward to being back at the heart of St.Ives and meeting the public as they invigilate.

Mary Fletcher, founder of the group, who lives in St.Ives, will be showing new works, some about lockdown, some relating to the sad death of her husband in 2018.

She seeks to move people by expressing her life as a twenty-first century flaneur - an observer of society.

Clare Hughes works in Hayle and her subject is her local dramatic coastline, which she interprets in acrylic paint.

Jenni Burrows, also from Hayle, has been making very unusual textile art which has used her rare form of skin cancer as a theme.

The work in this exhibition depicts a transition to currently living life, treatment-free and managing a chronic condition.
