A sea parade and service is to be held in Falmouth this September, the town council has announced.

Falmouth Town Council, in association with the Falmouth Royal Naval Association will be holding the Sea Sunday Parade and Service on Sunday September 19 2021.

The parade of civic guests will leave The Moor at 10.40am and will be led by Pendennis Brass Band through the town up to King Charles the Martyr Parish Church for a service.

The church service will take place at 11am.

Sea Sunday marks Falmouth's strong maritime connections, paying tribute to those who risk their lives daily at sea across the world.

Organisers at the Town Council have said that, due to the ongoing pandemic, the number of guests invited to participate in this years’ event has been reduced.

In previous years, the sea salute has been held by the Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall, Colonel Edward Bolitho.

Richard Gates, Town Manager and Falmouth Week Chairman said: "I’d like to personally thank everyone involved for their co-operation, commitment and hard work behind the scenes for delivering the best event possible, given the current circumstances.

"In order for the event to go ahead, it has been without doubt the most challenging within the changing environment.

"The community spirit of Falmouth is unparalleled and on behalf of the committee, I would like to say a big thank you to the sponsors and partners involved in the week as well as the volunteers and committee who give up so much of their time to support both the town and the event.
