Fire crews from Bodmin have spent this morning rescuing an unlucky animal who had become stuck in a bog close to the A30 near Temple.

An unlucky cow was in need of rescue after becoming stuck in the bog near Temple.

After being alerted to the 'bogged-down' bovine, crews from Bodmin Fire Station, alongside specialist appliances from Bodmin and Tolvaddon Fire Station were mobilised.

After several hours, crews were able to rescue to animal and are now currently attempting to move the cow on to drier ground.

The cow is reportedly eating and drinking but is still unsteady on its feet.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Our Critical Control Centre were alerted to a cow stuck in a bog near to the A30 at Temple this morning.

"A crew from Bodmin Fire Station, with specialist appliances also coming from Bodmin and Tolvaddon Fire Station were immediately mobilised.

"Updated at 11:45am, Firefighters wearing drysuits have entered the bog to attach animal rescue strops to the cow.

"Once these have been attached and fitted safely, the extrication of the animal will begin.

"Update @ 1230pm - The cow has now been rescued from the bog.

"Crews are working to move the cow to drier ground.

"The Cow is eating and drinking however is still unsteady on its feet.

"Further updates will be available as soon as possible."
