The Maritime and Coastguard Agency has responded to reports of an incident yesterday at Stack Point, near Swanpool Beach.
At the time it was reported that eyewitnesses at Swanpool Beach told of how emergency services reportedly took the casualty to hospital after they were carried in face-down on a canoe.
It is thought the initial rescue allegedly involved a man who is known to hire out canoes in the area and is well-known for giving aid in such situations.
The canoe was carried across the beach by a number of people, with the person allegedly still lying face down on it, and a handover to ambulance crews reportedly took place.
The casualty has now been confirmed as a person with a back injury who was evacuated from Stack Point.
