The Porthleven Torchlight Procession took place on Bank Holiday Monday at 8pm.
The parade was led by the Porthleven Town Band and, this year Porthleven Town Council had taken over the organising of the event.
In a post on its social media page, Porthleven Town Council said: A huge thank you to everyone who made tonight's Torchlight Procession happen.
"It was wonderful to see so many turn out to support this event.
"Thank you to Porthleven Town Band who did us proud as ever by leading the procession in such a professional manner, thank you to all the marshals helping keep everyone safe and to Councillor Munday for taking the lead in organising the event.
"We hope everyone had a wonderful evening."
The Town Council had previously put a lot of thought into whether the event would be safe to hold due to rising cases of Covid-19 in Cornwall, however, they did eventually decide that it would be safe to do so.
In a statement explaining the decision, Porthleven Town Council said: "Please be assured that the Town Council have given holding the Porthleven Torchlight careful consideration and have conducted a Covid 19 risk management assessment in accordance with Government Guidelines for holding an outside event."
The procession died out for a number of years before being revived by Porthleven Community Group in 2013.
However, it is believed to originally date way back, in some form or another, to around 1948.
The event attracts approximately 1000 people parading through Porthleven with their torches making it a quite a spectacle.
