Three Cornish towns have been listed on the top ten places in the UK for getting fish and chips, according to new research.

Perranporth, Falmouth and Newquay have all made the top ten according to research done by car rental provider, Hertz.

The company says it analysed TripAdvisor reviews of over 200 seaside towns’ restaurants to find out which ones have the most highly commended.

Perranporth comes in fourth place, Falmouth coming in seventh and Newquay placing ninth on the list

The top spot went to Scarborough, with Whitby and Hastings taking second and third spots.

When it came to analysing the top ten coastlines for fish and chips, North Cornwall was rated second only to the Yorkshire coast.

The data was produced by analysing the number of fish and chips restaurants as well as how many were rated either 5 or 4.5 stars.

The company then examined the total number of restaurants in each area with ratings of 4.5 or above.

All three Cornish locations listed on the top ten have several popular beaches.

David Hayward, General Manager at Hertz commented on the research: "With so many Brits’ looking to spend their summer holidaying across the UK again this year, we wanted to conduct the research to help visitors enjoy the best fish and chips around.

"We hope this research helps provide some inspiration on the best places to stay and road trip around this Summer."
