Daily Covid 19 cases in Cornwall have risen today in the latest update from the government with three new deaths recorded following on from another rise yesterday.

Today’s daily new Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly show 338 new people have tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, up from 258 yesterday.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay. The latest data shows a combined 2,240 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Friday, September 3, compared to yesterday's 2,255 weekly total. 

It means the weekly case rate average now stands at 389.2 cases per 100,000 people, down from 391.8 yesterday. For this figure the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 38,747.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 38,975 new cases compared to 37,489 yesterday.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to over seven million at 7,094,592.

In the most recent update from NHS England the combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic stands at 298, following a death on Sunday (September 5) and reported in today's figures.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic is now 234, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it is still 64.

The overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – is now at 514 in the 28 days since a positive Covid case, including three in the last 24 hours.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate has increased to 604 in the most recent data available. It shows that six new deaths occurred in the week leading up to Friday, August 28, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show that 191 more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 133,674. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Tuesday, September 7 a total of 48,319,435 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 43,620,946 have had their second dose.

In Cornwall it is 435,407 with their first dose and 402,010 with their second.
