A further drop in the rate of new cases appearing in Cornwall has seen the map turn blue again.

Cornwall now has a rate of 389.2 cases per 100,000 people, compared to 544.2 cases per 100,000 people last Wednesday.

This brings it back down a level on the government's dashboard map, after falling below the 400-case threshold.

The figure relates the seven days leading up to last Friday, September 3, the most recent data available.

During that time there were 2,240 cases recorded - 897 fewer than during the preceding week, marking a fall of 28.6%.

It has overtaken Newquay, which has seen further large fall in cases in its two clusters. During the same time period it saw 79 new cases - 133 fewer than during the previous week.

The map shows positive cases by 'Middle Super Output Area' - the name the government gives to the break-up of larger towns and groups of neighbouring towns and villages, with groupings covering a greater area than others.

The minimum population in each area is 5,000 and the average is 7,200.

Falmouth Packet:

Clusters are only shown when there are three or more new cases reported at any one time.

Anywhere with between zero and two cases shows white in order to "protect the privacy of individuals and prevent disclosure", the accompanying information states.
