Daily Covid-19 cases in Cornwall have risen slightly in in the latest update from the government and there has been a further new death.

Today’s daily new Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly show 207 new people have tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, down from 269 yesterday.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay. The latest data shows a combined 2,226 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Monday, September 6 - a small rise on yesterday's figure of 2,198.

It means the weekly case rate average now stands at 386.8 cases per 100,000 people, up from 381.9 yesterday. For this figure the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 39,466.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 29,547 new cases.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 7,197,662.

NHS England no longer updates figures at the weekend. In the most recent update, on Friday, the combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic remained at 298, following a death last Sunday (September 5)

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic is now 234, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it is still 64.

The government's update, which continues to take place daily, shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remains at 516 in the 28 days since a positive Covid case.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate increased to 604 in the most recent data available. It shows that six new deaths occurred in the week leading up to Friday, August 28, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show that 156 more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 134,144. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Friday, September 10 a total of 48,395,359 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 43,895,440 have had their second dose.

In Cornwall it is 435,906 with their first dose and 404,282 with their second.
