Devon and Cornwall Police have shared an image of a driver demonstrating exactly how not to drive, as well as showcasing a sure-fire way to nab yourself three points and a fine.

The image, which was taken in 2019 but only shared today, shows the driver of a large vehicle, which could be a Nissan, driving at speed with both feet up on the dashboard behind the steering wheel.

How exactly the driver of the vehicle came to be in this position remains unknown, however, police have advised other road users not to imitate the dangerous stunt as doing so could cause serious injury or death.

According to police, the driver in the image was fined £569 and received three-points on their license.

Captioning the image, a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We all enjoy putting our feet up, but please don't do it behind the wheel of a car.

"This driver received 3 points and a £569 fine back in 2019 for not being in proper control.

"The consequences of having your feet on the dash can be life changing if not fatal.

"#DontRiskIt."

Devon and Cornwall Police are routinely called to incidents on Cornwall's roads and even has its own Road Crime Unit, consisting of a small team of DC’s and PC’s whose job is to support investigations into serious and organised crime through the provision of vehicle pursuit and containment tactics.
