A MOTORCYCLIST is believed to have suffered serious injuries after a collision with a car this morning.

The accident happened in Clifton Crescent at 7.20am causing long tailbacks around Falmouth Rugby Club and on the A39 Dracaena Avenue.

The bike rider is thought to have suffered a serious leg injury in the accident and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

The A39 was was closed in both directions following the crash while police and paramedics dealt with the incident.

Roads and traffic incident site Inrix reported: "A39 Dracaena Avenue in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident between Tregenver Road (Kwik Fit) and Kimberley Park Road (the Rugby Club)."

The bike rider is believed to have suffered a serious leg injury in the accident and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

In a statement, a Devon and Cornwall spokeswoman said: "Police were called at around 7.20am today to Clifton Crescent following reports of a collision involving a car and a motorbike.

"The bike rider is believed to have sustained a serious leg injury and was assessed at the scene before being taken to hospital."

"The road was closed whilst emergency services are in attendance but has since been reopened."
