For the first time in two days, a new death has been recorded in Cornwall in the latest figures given in the government's daily coronavirus round up.

Tuesday’s daily new Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly showed 327 new people have tested positive for the virus in the previous 24 hours, up from 214 on Monday and 184 on Sunday.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay. The latest data (Tuesday) shows a combined 1,431 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Wednesday, September 15.

It means the weekly case rate average now stands at 248.6 cases per 100,000 people. For this figure the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 41,648.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK on Monday shows 31,564 new cases.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 7,496,543.

NHS England no longer provides updates at the weekend over the number of deaths in hospitals. In the most recent data, on Friday, the combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic remained at 303, following deaths on September 13 and 14 respectively that were recorded in Thursday's figures from NHS England.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals' Trust since the start of the pandemic is now 239, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it is still 64.

The government's update, which continues to take place daily, shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – is now at 527 in the 28 days since a positive Covid case, with the last death reported in Tuesday's figures.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate increased to 618 in the most recent data available. It shows that seven new deaths occurred in the week leading up to Friday, September 3, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show that 203 more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result, up from 49 on Monday and 56 the day before.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 135,455. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Monday, September 20 a total of 48,617,703 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 44,512,572 have had their second dose.

In Cornwall it is 437,286 with their first dose and 409,261 with their second.
