The number of areas of Cornwall recording week-on-week rises in Covid cases has more than doubled since the weekend, although overall figures continue to fall.

It's as Cornwall and Isles of Scilly recorded a total of 1,447 cases during the seven days leading up to last Friday, September 17, the most recent data available.

This was 330 fewer cases than during the preceding week, marking a 18.6% fall.

The case rate is now averaging 251.4 cases per 100,000 people, which is a fall on 308.4 cases last Wednesday.

Camborne continues to be the town with the highest number of cases overall across its three clusters, although the figure is falling.

It saw 103 cases recorded during those seven days, which was eight fewer than a week earlier.

However, neighbouring Pool & Illogan Highway is the individual cluster with the highest number of weekly cases, recording 70 - up 37 on the previous week.

The map shows positive cases by 'Middle Super Output Area' - the name the government gives to the break-up of larger towns and groups of neighbouring towns and villages, with groupings covering a greater area than others.

The minimum population in each area is 5,000 and the average is 7,200.

Falmouth Packet:

Clusters are only shown when there are three or more new cases reported at any one time.

Anywhere with between zero and two cases shows white in order to "protect the privacy of individuals and prevent disclosure", the accompanying information states.
