Cornwall’s biggest triathlon returns to Falmouth’s Gylly Beach on Sunday, September 26.
The Grand Finale of intoTRI’s Cornish Tri Series will be set out over five events across the county. Falmouth Triathlon, ‘The Seal’, will see 275 adults battling it out over Sprint (600m swim – 20k bike – 5k run) and Super Sprint (300m swim – 10k bike – 2.5k run) distances in the morning.
Australian exits on the swim course, where swimmers exit the water for a short run between swim loops, and spectator-friendly bike and run courses between Gylly Beach and Pendennis Point add to the excitement on the day. The winning athletes will be presented with prizes sponsored by St Michael’s Resort at their garden bar around noon.
In the afternoon, junior athletes get to test their mettle in the fast and furious Scootathlon (scoot-bike-run) for five to eight olds (non-timed), as well as the Mini Tri’s open water triathlon races for eight to 16 year olds over various distances.
Gylly Surf Life Saving Club will once again provide open water cover for the event, supporting athletes on boards and motorised craft, while Gylly Café serves up post event drinks and snacks on the beach.
