A couple who opened their "dream" business just under a year ago have said they are "truly humbled" by the support they have received as they announced their closure.
Lindsey and Jamie Hibbert opened Taste Cafe, near Wendron, in the middle of what has been one of the toughest periods on record for the hospitality industry.
Despite the pandemic, and the second lockdown being introduced just weeks after it opened on October 1 last year, the cafe received huge customer support and positive reviews.
However, the lockdowns, coupled with further closures through the summer due to staff and family members having to isolate, took its toll and on Friday the couple announced that they had taken the sad decision to shut for good in just under a week.
The last day of trading at Taste will be this Thursday, September 30.
Lindsey and Jamie said: "This is a very sad announcement for us at Taste to be making. As of next Thursday, September 30 we will be closed.
"We, like many other businesses, have had a rough ride over the last year. We were hoping to have been in a better situation by now, however Covid has made sure that's not the case!
"We have had wonderful local support, which we are truly humbled by, alongside unfaltering help and support from our landlords.
"Sadly, due to closures and family commitments, it's made it impossible for us to carry on.
"We are open tomorrow [Saturday] and Sunday, as well as next Wednesday and Thursday. It would be great to see you!
"We can not thank you all enough for coming to see us at Taste and we hope you have enjoyed it. This is an emotional time."
Lindsey and Jamie were already known for their street food business Bite Me Catering, selling pizza topped fries and burgers, and their famous 'crispy hot cakes'.
After a summer at Wendron Plant Nursery, where they initially opened the original @taste, the opportunity arose to move to The Homestead Woodland Garden, which the couple described as "a dream come true" and "better that wining the lottery to us."
