A formerly council-owned clubhouse with residential development potential in St Ives has sold for double its freehold guide price.

Cornwall Council placed Stennack Clubhouse for auction in the sixth sale of 2021 by the regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson.

Fierce bidding for the property off Park Avenue took the final sale price soaring well above its guide of £100,000 to £200,000.

Senior Auction Appraiser Katie Semmens said: "There was incredibly keen demand for this former clubhouse.

"It was auctioned with the benefit of favourable pre-application advice from the council which clearly acted as a major incentive for some bidders.
