There has been another new death reported in today's daily Covid round-up from the government for Cornwall, on top of the one from yesterday.

Today’s daily new Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly shows 351 new people tested positive for the virus in the previous 24 hours, a small fall on yesterday's 366 cases.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay. The latest data shows a combined 2,275 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Tuesday, September 28.

It means the weekly case rate average has now risen to 395.3 cases per 100,000 people. For this figure the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 45,631.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 30,349 new cases.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 7,900,680.

Hospital deaths are not updated at the weekend. In the most recent data today, the combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic remains at 308.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals’ Trust since the start of the pandemic is now 244, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it is still 64.

The government’s update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – is now at 536 in the 28 days since a positive Covid case, with one new death reported in today’s figures.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate increased to 628 in the most recent data available. It shows that ten new deaths occurred in the week leading up to Friday, September 17, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show that 43 more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result, compared to 121 yesterday.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 136,953. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Friday, October 1 a total of 48,928,952 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 44,969,396 have had their second dose. A note on the Government website says: "The vaccination uptake percentages for the UK will not be updated while we work on a solution to include 12-15 year olds."

In Cornwall it stands at 438,252with their first dose and 412,285 with their second.
