The organisers of Truro City of Lights have announced that the event will not be going ahead again this year for the second year running.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page this morning, the group thanked people for all their lovely messages but said the event would not be returning until at least 2022.

The group says because of the current situation the event could not be held again this year but they have been developing new projects.

The statement said: "Thank you all for your lovely messages, asking when Truro's City of Lights Parade will be happening.

"Sadly, Truro’s lantern parade is not possible in current climate. For more information regarding the light switch on and Truro’s festive calendar please refer to www.visittruro.org.uk

"The City of Lights Team have been developing new community and lantern projects over the past 18 months.

"The lanterns will be popping up across the South West working on smaller projects and hope to return to Truro early 2022.

"For more information and further announcements please keep following us Facebook."

The City of Lights parade has not been held in Truro since 2019.
