A PERSON has been found dead in a car after it was spotted on fire in a field near Penzance this morning.

Police were called Treen Hill, Penzance at 8.45am to reports of a car on fire in a field.

When the police arrived they found one person dead. The circumstances of the collision and how the occupant died are now being investigated by the police.

They are appealing for any information that may help with their enquiries.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at 8.45am today [Tuesday, October 12] to Treen Hill, Penzance, following reports of a single vehicle collision.

"It was reported that a vehicle had been located in a field on fire.

"A person was confirmed deceased at the scene.

"Officers are investigating the circumstances that led to the collision.
