The sun is out and for today only you can enjoy a guilt-free ice cream in Falmouth knowing that you'll be supporting a charity in the process.

Richard Pacy, from Falmouth Dairy, will be donating £1 from the sale of every ice cream cone he sells today (Friday) to Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Now serving from his usual trading spot at Pendennis Point, his ice cream van will be there until around 4pm today.

Explaining why he wanted to support the charity, Richard said: "With everything that's gone on over the last year or so, they've been struggling with funds. It's a good cause."

He decided to do it as part of Pirate FM's Donate £1 Day, taking place today for Cornwall Air Ambulance. The radio station is asking schools and businesses to get involved and collect £1 from students and staff members throughout today (October 15) to raise as much money as possible.

Cornwall Air Ambulance is called to over 1,000 seriously sick or injured people every year in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

As a charity it relies on donations to fund its lifesaving missions, needing around £5,000,000 a year to operate.

Richard has taken over the running of Falmouth Dairy from Alan Hitchens, who passed away after catching coronavirus last year.

Richard began working for Alan aged 12 and subsequently went on to live with him when his parents moved away.

In September last year Richard brought back Alan's famous 'Jazzer' ice cream for the day, as a special tribute.
