Up to 150 electric charging points for electric cars will be installed in Cornwall Council car parks after it was agreed to match fund an EU scheme called the The Drive EV2 project. No decision has yet been made on where they will be installed

Cornwall Councillor for Falmouth Jayne Kirkham immediately called for some of the charging points to situated in Falmouth.

Posting on her Facebook page she said: "Falmouth only has a charger in Quarry carpark. We are poorly served for public electric car chargers.

"I have requested that Falmouth is considered for some of these charging points.

"Which Cornwall Council carpark do you think they would be best in?"

Cornwall Council has allocated £0.725m match funding from the Climate Change and Renewable Energy Capital Fund under delegated powers.

The Drive EV2 project is a climate emergency project. It was included in the July 2019 Climate Change Action Plan and will build on Cornwall Council’s existing public electric vehicle charge point provision.
