Cornwall has seen another rise in the number of new daily cases being recorded - with another two deaths reported today as well following on from the three reported yesterday.

Today's daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly shows 457 new people tested positive for the virus in the previous 24 hours, a rise on the 348 reported yesterday.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay. The latest data shows a combined 3,174 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Wednesday, October 15, down on yesterday's weekly figure of 3,195.

The weekly case rate average has now risen to 551.5 cases per 100,000 people. For this figure the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 52,917.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 49,139 new cases, up from 43,738 yesterday.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 8,589,737.

The combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic now stands at 312.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals’ Trust since the start of the pandemic is now 248 with two new deaths reported on October 16 and 17 respectively, the first new deaths since October 3. At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it is still 64.

The government’s update, which shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remains at 546 in the 28 days since a positive Covid case.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate increased to 645 in the most recent data available this week. It shows that four new deaths occurred in the week leading up to Friday, October 8, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show a fall from yesterday's high figure of 223, with 179 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stand at 139,031. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Tuesday, October 19 a total of 49,505,327 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 45,433,757 have had their second dose.

The Cornwall figures show 441,425 people with their first dose although the second dose figures appear not to have been updated and last stood at 415,416.
