The First Round Proper of the FA Vase takes place this weekend with three sides in the local area taking part in the competition.

Falmouth Town will face arguably their toughest test this season when they host Bradford Town of the Hellenic League. Bradford play in a division a step higher than Falmouth and are sixth in the table P12, W8 D1, L3. They come into this bumper fixture having won their last three games, most recently a 2-3 away win against Calne Town.

Winning three games on the bounce is nothing compared to Falmouth Towns winning streak. Saturday's hosts have won every game they have played this season, that is 12 in the league, two in the Walter C Parson league Cup and one in the Cornwall Senior Cup. Their last game saw Town progress into the next round of the Walter C Parson Cup with a 2-5 away win at Sidmouth Town. The full Third Round draw for that competition can be found here.

Wendron United will be hoping to win on another landmark day for the football club. It is their first time in the competition, they beat Bishop Sutton 2-1 to get into this round. Their opposition for the day is Bournemouth FC who play in the Wessex League. Wendron have won their last two with a 6-1 win against Bovey Tracey and a 0-4 away win against Sticker in midweek.

Helston Athletic have the opportunity to get back to winning ways after two consecutive league draws against Tavistock and Bitton respectively. They play away to Oldland Abbotonians who are in a promotion battle of their own in the Western League Division One. They are currently second with 26 points from their 15 games this season.

Back to league action Penryn Athletic take on Wadebridge at Kernick Road. It is Athletic’s first season in the league and they will be looking to take advantage of other teams not playing due to the Vase fixtures. Their midweek fixture against Godolphin Atlantic was postponed due to bad weather.

On Sunday October 24 in the South West Regional Women’s League Helston Athletic Women can make it two wins in a row when they host Feniton Women. Helston won their last game 2-3 away at Saltash United.

In the Cornwall Women’s Football League Division One leaders FXSU Ladies will face a second away trip in a row when they play against Helston Athletic Women’s development team. Kick off in that fixture is at 11:00am rather than the usual 2:30pm

In Division Two Wendron United Ladies have the opportunity to get their first win of the league season when they travel away to Bodmin Women.
