McDonald's has confirmed that an "incident" took place at its Falmouth restaurant last night and it is working with police.

The entire site was closed this morning (Saturday) with police tape blocking the restaurant entrance.

Entry to the car park was shut off by a row of cones, and a staff member in a high vis jacket could be seen standing outside preventing people from entering.

Both entry points to the restaurant were also taped over with blue and white police tape.

The Packet was told at the scene that there had been an "incident" last night that was being cleared up, but no further details were given.

This has since been confirmed by head office.

Both the restaurant and drive-thru were initially closed to customers, although staff said they hoped to be able to reopen at 2pm.

The company has now confirmed that the drive-thru has reopened, but that the restaurant remains closed.

A spokesperson told the Packet: "We can confirm that an incident took place last night at our Falmouth restaurant. We are currently supporting our people and assisting police with their ongoing enquiries.”

A force incident manager for Devon and Cornwall Police was unable to find details of any live incident there, although this could be because the live log has been closed.

We will bring you more details when we have them.
