Three more Covid-related deaths have been reported in Cornwall in today's update from the government.

Today's daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly show 362 new people tested positive for the virus in the previous 24 hours, down on the 375 reported yesterday.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay. The latest data shows a combined 2,856 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Friday, October 22, well down on the previous day's 2,925 weekly total.

The weekly case rate average has now fallen back below 500, to 496.2 cases per 100,000 people from 508.2 yesterday. For this figure the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 55,662.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 43,941 new cases, up from 40,954 yesterday.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 8,897,149.

The combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic remains at 316.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic is now 252, with no new deaths recorded so far this week after six last week. At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure is still 64.

The government’s update, which shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – has risen to 556 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate increased to 649 in the most recent data available this week. It shows that four new deaths occurred in the week leading up to Friday, October 15, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show 207 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result, down from 263 yesterday.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stand at 140,041. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Tuesday, October 25 49,794,120 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 45,605,922 have had their second dose.

In Cornwall there are 441,808 people with their first dose, and 416,302 with their second dose.
