The most recent Covid data for Cornwall shows a significant drop in the number of weekly cases.

Today's daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly show 324 new people tested positive for the virus in the previous 24 hours, marginally up on the 322 reported yesterday.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay. The latest data shows a combined 2,737 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Sunday, October 24, well down on the previous day's 2,851 weekly total.

The weekly case rate average has now fallen to 475.6 cases per 100,000 people from 495.4 yesterday. For this figure the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 56,308.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 43,467 new cases, up from 39,842 yesterday.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 8,979,236.

The combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic remains at 318 in today's figures, after a rise reported yesterday.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic is now 254, with two new deaths recorded on Sunday (October 24) and Tuesday (October 26). At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure is still 64.

The government’s update, which shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remains at 559 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate increased to 649 in the most recent data available this week. It shows that four new deaths occurred in the week leading up to Friday, October 15, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show 186 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result, up from 165 yesterday.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stand at 140,392. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Thursday, October 28, 49,882,904 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 45,651,222 have had their second dose.

The figures for Cornwall have not updated on the government website. In the last update there were 443,603 people with their first dose, and 416,467 with their second dose.
