Two paintings from a well-know Falmouth artist will be going on sale in Truro next week.

The two paintings by Henry Scott Tuke will feature in a sale at Lodge and Thomas in Truro on Friday November 12.

The first painting, a watercolour of a "Bather By The Sea" is in exceptional condition and depicts one of Tuke's favourite subjects Charlie Mitchell, his chief boat handler.

The other Tuke in the sale depicts "Charlie In His Boat" which is painted in oils on panel.

The two paintings have found their way to Truro from a private collection in Cornwall and are being sold now due to the owner having to downsize.

Alongside Tuke's paintings, other features in the sale, which has a strong selection of Cornish art, including works by Dame Laura Knight (1877-1970) and Sir Terry Frost (1915-2003).

Melanie Esdale, of Lodge and Thomas in Truro, said: "Henry Scott Tuke is very well known and extremely sought-after.

"They're lovely pictures, and we've got two in the sale.

"The Dame Laura Knight is a preparatory sketch for a larger picture that sold at Sotheby's for £55,000.

"My main feeling about the sale is that there's something for everyone, we go from £10 to £10,000 plus, we've got a selection of film posters, there really is something for everyone.

"I've converted so many people over from our general sales because they come and have a look and they can afford stuff, and once they come in they love it!"
