A Redruth-based Cornish food business has won the title of Best Rural Retailer in the South West in the Rural Business Awards.

The Cornish Food Box Company is delighted to share that it has won Best Rural Retail Business in the South West award at the Rural Business Awards, the UK’s most respected celebration of excellence in rural business.

Now, this local, family-owned business will move forward to represent the region in the national awards.

Established in 2010, The Cornish Food Box Company works with more than 250 Cornish farmers, fishermen, bakers and food businesses.

Food boxes, hampers and gifts are delivered to homes, offices and holiday accommodation across Cornwall, the UK and even internationally.

Founder and Managing Director, Victoria Amran, is delighted the business is being recognised for its commitment to supporting the rural economy, and to be shortlisted for this prestigious award.

Victoria said: "After an incredibly busy summer, and now in the lead up to Christmas, to be told we have won this award is a fantastic boost.

"Our team here in Redruth have all worked so hard over the last couple of years through the pandemic when demand for our delivery service increased.

"It’s so exciting to have been put through to the national awards early next year – hopefully, we will do Cornwall proud and bring the award home to the county!"

The Redruth-based business is a champion of shopping locally and raising awareness of the benefit to the local economy of supporting small, regional producers.

Founded in December 2010 just a few weeks before Christmas, the business has grown considerably and now employs 13 people from its Redruth hub.

Victoria continued: "We want to make it really easy for everyone to buy Cornish food and drink as part of their everyday grocery or gift shopping.

"Our website makes access to the small artisan producers and farmers here in Cornwall easy for everyone, regardless of where they live or need a hamper delivered to.

"We’re proud to deliver Cornish produce all over the UK and even internationally!"

"We would love to follow in the footsteps of one of our suppliers St Ewe Eggs who won national recognition when they scooped a Rural Business Award last year.

"The Cornish food scene has so much to offer at the moment and is an industry the county is rightly very proud of."

Director and Co-Founder of The Rural Business Awards, Jemma Clifford, said: "We are excited to celebrate the 2021/2022 awards after such a challenging year for businesses.

"We are passionate about creating a nurturing environment where rural businesses can develop, and this starts by showcasing the great work they do.

"On behalf of everyone at the Rural Business Awards, we want to say well done to The Cornish Food Box Company and wish them luck ahead of the national finals."

Winners of the national awards will be announced in February 2022.
