Two further hospital deaths have been reported in Cornwall as figures start to rise again.

Today's daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly show 338 new people tested positive for the virus in the previous 24 hours, up on yesterday's figure of 269.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay. The latest data shows a combined 2,364 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Sunday, October 31, a rise on yesterday's 2,342 weekly total.

The weekly case rate average has now risen to 410.8 cases per 100,000, from a 406.9 average yesterday. For this figure the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 58,607.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 34,029 new cases, down from 37,269 yesterday.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 9,241,916.

In the most recent update from NHS England, the combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic has risen to 321.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic is now 257, with two new deaths recorded on Tuesday this week (November 2) and reported in today's update. At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure is still 64.

The government’s update, which shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – now stands at 572 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case, with two new deaths reported today.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate increased to 657 in the most recent data available this week. It shows that eight new deaths occurred in the week leading up to Friday, October 22, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show 193 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result, down from 214 yesterday.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stand at 141,588. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Thursday, November 4, 50,156,656 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 45,790,934 have had their second dose. By A total of 9,347,074 have had their booster jab or third dose.

Cornwall's figures have not updated from Wednesday, remaining at 446,276 people having had their first dose and 417,066 their second.
