Police have issued an update to an earlier witness appeal following an attempted robbery at a service station in Cornwall.

Officers had been hunting a man in his 20s who was said to have threatened staff at the Applegreen Service Station in St Autell last night before demanding they hand over money.

However, the suspect failed in his attempt and ran off empty handed.

Police launched an appeal for information from anyone who might have been been in the area of the St Austell double roundabouts last night, Friday, November 5, at around 10pm.

They also issued a description of a person they wanted to find.

Devon and Cornwall Police have now given an update to the incident thought, saying: "A male has been arrested following a report of an attempted robbery and we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this matter.

"However, if you know any information about this incident, please contact police on 101 quoting log 0945 5/11/21 or contact Crimestoppers."
