This year sees Armistice Day fall on a Thursday, with several services taking place across the Duchy, followed by Remembrance Sunday services on November 14. 

Here is our round up of the services taking place both today and on Sunday.

Falmouth:

This weekend, a Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service will take place, starting at Kimberley Park, Sunday, November 14.

The schedule for the service is as follows:

09:45 a.m. Civic Party to assemble at Atherton Suite, The Old Post Office, The Moor for light refreshments.

10:25 a.m. Assemble on the Moor Piazza under Parade Marshal directions.

10:35 a.m. Depart the Moor for parade to Kimberley Park.

11:00 a.m. Service conducted by the Mayor’s Chaplain Canon Bill Stuart White at the War Memorial including two minutes silence and wreath laying.

11:30 a.m. Parade departs Kimberley Park for return to the Moor for march past and salute by the Town Mayor.

11:35 a.m. Parade disperse for reception at the Atherton Suite The Town Council will provide tea and coffee in the Atherton Suite following the parade on the 14th November where lift facilities will be available. Please note the numbers have been limited for the reception to comply with the premises covid restrictions.

Truro:

On Thursday, November 11, a two-minute silence will be observed from the war memorial on Boscawen Street.

On Remembrance Sunday, Sunday November 14 there will be a wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial at 2:15pm This will be followed by a military procession, pausing for the salute with Her Majesty’s the Queen Lord Lieutenant for Cornwall, Col E T Bolitho OBE, and The Right Worshipful The Mayor of Truro, Councillor Mr Steven Webb. This march will then join the Civic procession leading to the formation of the Guard of Honour at High Cross.

At 3:15pm, the annual Royal British Legion Remembrance Sunday service will take place at Truro Cathedral.

Helston:
The parade is mustering with RNAS Culdrose personnel at 10am in the Trengrouse Way car park and will then leave to go through the town at 10:30am.
The parade is  led by Helston Town Band and usually involves personnel from RNAS Culdrose, Helston Air Cadets, the town's firefighters, sports clubs, schools and youth groups, along with Helston's mayor, this year being Tim Grattan-Kane, town councillors and staff.
Those attending gather in front of the Remembrance Garden, next to the Gryll's Monument and the bottom of Coinagehall Street for a service with hymns, readings and a two-minute silence.

On Saturday November 13 a Remembrance Concert will take place at St Michael's Church in Helston at 7pm featuring the Helston town Band and the Military Wives Choir. Tickets cost £5.

Penzance:

On Thursday November 11 there will be a two-minute silence in the Memorial Garden of Penlee Park at 11am which the public are very welcome to attend.

On Sunday November 14 The service will take place outdoors at the War Memorial at Battery Rocks and will be led by Rev Howard Peskett and Wella Morris. This year’s service will also see the inclusion of the Cornish language for the first time.

10:00am – The Civic Parade will form-up in the forecourt of St John’s Hall

10:15am – The Parade will set off for the march to The War Memorial at Battery Rocks, led by Penzance Silver Band

10:40am – Remembrance Service & wreath laying (during the wreath laying Penzance Silver Band will play a selection of hymns)

A rolling road closure will be in place from 10:15am – 11:15am including:

• Alverton Street

• The Greenmarket

• Market Place

• Chapel Street

• Under Chapel Yard

• Battery Road (from the junction of Under Chapel Yard to the War Memorial)

Camborne:

The Remembrance parade will be held on Sunday, November 14, starting in Commercial Square at 10.30am.

It will head towards the Church, for a wreath laying and Church Service.

Redruth:

The Remembrance Parade on November 14 will begin at the bottom of Sea View Terrace, gathering from 10.30am before marching to Victoria Park for the Service of Remembrance. The parade will include the town mayor and town council members, cadets from the local area, and other local dignitaries. The proceedings will end with a Service of Remembrance in St Andrews Church in Clinton Road. 

Penryn:

Sunday, November 14 Remembrance Sunday service at St Gluvias Church at 9.30am, followed by the procession from Penryn Temperance Hall at 10.30am and then the civic service at St Gluvias at 11am.

There will also be an Armistice Day Service on Thursday, November 11 at 11am at Penryn Memorial Gardens, for two minutes’ silence and wreath laying.

A Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal Concert will be held at Penryn Methodist Chapel on Friday, November 12 at 7.30pm with Nankersey Male Voice Choir. Admission is free but donations taken for the Poppy Appeal.

Porthleven:

The Remembrance Sunday Procession will assemble at the Public Hall at 2pm. The service this year will take place at St Bartholomew’s Church at 2.30pm followed by wreath laying at the war memorial.

Attendees are requested to keep your distance from other attendees and the use of face masks at the Public Hall and for the church service is recommended.

Porthleven Town Council is currently investigating the possibility of live streaming the service and wreath laying for those who are unable to attend or do not feel comfortable attending, details to follow.

There will also be an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial on November 11 at 11am.

Church of St Germoe:

Meet at Balwest Chapel at 10.30am for Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial on Tregonning Hill on Thursday November 11 at 11.00am.

On Remembrance Sunday November 14 a parade and Service of Remembrance will be held at Breage War memorial at 10.45am followed by a service in Breage Church. There will be no service in Germoe Church.

St Keverne:

Remembrance service on Sunday November 14.

10:45am St Keverne Band gather to play music.

10:50am Legion members and wreath layers gather in sixes to maintain social distancing.

11:00am Last Post and two minutes.

11:02 Reveille, wreath laying and national anthem before dismissal to Parish Church.

Godolphin Cross:

Godolphin Cross will be hosting their Remembrance Day Service at the memorial in Godolphin Cross (with coffee and tea afterwards in The Chapel) on Wednesday 11th November 2021, 10.30am - 12.30noon.
