A man has appeared before a court charged in connection to a murder investigation into the death of a woman in Helston almost six months ago.

Police were called to the address in Meneage Road on May 25 this year, where 62-year-old Alison Stevenson was confirmed deceased at the scene.

Cameron Dancey-Stevenson, aged 25, from Helston, has been charged with murder.

He appeared before Truro Magistrates Court today (Friday, November 12) via video link from Langdon Hospital, a secure hospital near Dawlish that supports people with mental health needs who have come into contact with the legal system.

The charge was read out to the 25-year-old, but due to the serious nature of the allegation it can only be heard by the crown court and no plea was given.

Dancey-Stevenson is now due to appear before Truro Crown Court this afternoon, before Judge Carr, again via video link.

He was remanded in custody until that time, within his current location in hospital.

A major police investigation has been carried out since the death was discovered early on a Tuesday morning in May.

Undercover police officers arrested a man in a residential area near the church in Helston in the days afterwards, but until this point nobody has been charged in connection with the incident.
