A Cornish oyster supplier has recalled products due to possible contamination with norovirus.
A product recall has been put out by the Food Standards Agency for Porthilly Shellfish, Porthilly Farm, Rock, Wadebridge.
It affects customers purchasing oysters from following fishmongers/retailers:
• Wadebridge Fishmongers, Polmorla Walk, Wadebridge, PL27 7NS
• Passionate about Fish, Woodlands Rd, Camberley, GU15 3ND
• Veasey, Hartfield Rd, Forest Row, RH18 5DN
• Rock Fish, Azime Court, Wadebridge, Cornwall, PL27 6NW
This is only where the supply of oysters is from Camel Estuary, Cornwall between the dates of October 28 and November 9.
The precautionary recall notice states: "The product is potentially contaminated with norovirus and if consumed it may cause illness.
"Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product."
The customer notice reads: "Our advice to consumers - If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return the
product to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
"If you have any questions, please contact the retailer from whom you purchased the product, or contact Porthilly Shellfish on 01208 862624."
