Last year, the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) rehomed nearly 1,200 animals - could you offer one more a loving home?

The NAWT is one of the UK’s top animal welfare charities operating five rehoming centres across the south of England and not only helps cats and dogs but also rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and field animals too.

They suggest, before visiting one of their centres, spending some time with other members of the household to decide what sort of pet would be the right choice.

If you do decide to adopt a pet, here are some of the furry friends looking for a place to call home this week.

Marley

Falmouth Packet: Marley is being cared for by the National Animal Welfare Trust in CornwallMarley is being cared for by the National Animal Welfare Trust in Cornwall

Breed: Border Collie
Age: 1 year

Marley is a typical collie with a strong desire to learn and keep his mind busy.

He will need owners who have experience with my breed and know how to channel energy in the right direction.

He would greatly benefit from someone willing to take him to classes where his brain can be put to good use.

He can be a little wary when first meeting people, however, makes friends pretty quickly with anyone willing to play a game of fetch

Marley could potentially live with another dog but this would be dependent on satisfactory meets and will need an adult only home with no cats or small animals.

Mya

Falmouth Packet: Mya is currently being looked after at the National Animal Welfare Trust in CornwallMya is currently being looked after at the National Animal Welfare Trust in Cornwall

Coat type: Short hair
Age: 11 years

Mya’s owner has sadly gone into a care home and therefore needs to find a new retirement pad.

She is the sweetest girl who loves human attention and lap cuddles and would love to find a new home before Christmas.

She doesn’t like other animals, so needs to be the only pet in her new home but is happy to live with sensible older children who will offer gentle fuss.

Mya is part Bengal, hence the spotty coat, so can be a bit chatty at times.

Esther

Falmouth Packet: Esther is looking for a new home through the National Animal Welfare Trust, CornwallEsther is looking for a new home through the National Animal Welfare Trust, Cornwall

Coat type: Long hair
Age: 5 years

Esther is a Long Hair Oriental and is looking for a new home due to her demanding nature and extremely loud vocals.

The biggest baby you will come across, she likes to be with someone 24/7 so needs a home where someone is about most of the day.

She preferably needs someone with a quiet lifestyle as lots of visitors (especially young ones) scare her.

She needs to be centre of attention and her human is her whole world so would prefer a home with no other pets.

Knowledge of the breed would be extremely beneficial, as although beautiful, can be very vocal at all times of day and night, I can also be a bit picky with people - you need to let her come to you in her own time but once a seal of approval is given, will be besties forever!

Esther is still living in her home and will remain there until the purr-fect place is found for her.
