Two paintings from a renowned Falmouth-based artist have both sold at the latest Fine Art Sale from Lodge and Thomas.

The Truro-based Fine Art sale room hit the ground running last week with their inaugural Fine Art Sale which saw a number of pieces sold way above their guide prices.

Two paintings by renowned artist Henry Scott Tuke, "Bather by the sea" and "Charlie in his Punt", were also snapped up at the sale, with the first making £10,200 and the latter, £9,700 after receiving heavy national interest.

Another highlight of the sale, which took place on Friday November 12, was an oil on board painting "The Lane, St Just" by favoured local artist - Fred Yates, which surpassed the estimate of £7,000 - £9,000 to achieve an outstanding hammer total of £11,500.

From a more traditional period, "The Grand Canal Venice" oil on canvas by Jane Vivian made a strong £2,900.

Alongside this, a pair of modernist sculptures completely eclipsed their guide price of £30 - £50, managing to achieve a speculative £420.

If you would like to consign, Lodge and Thomas are now accepting entries for its forthcoming antiques, silver, jewellery & collectables sale on the February 10 and 11 2022.
