Daily cases of Covid in Cornwall have risen again after a decrease yesterday, with the case rate average in Cornwall also rising.

Today's daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly show 417 new people tested positive for the virus in the previous 24 hours, a big increase on yesterday's figure of 288.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay. The latest data shows a combined 2,159 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Saturday, November 13, a rise on yesterday's 2,134 weekly total.

The weekly case rate average has also risen to 375.1 cases per 100,000, up from a 370.3 average yesterday. For this figure the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 62,596.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 46,807 new cases.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 9,721,916.

The latest data from NHS England has yet to come through, however, in the most recent update from NHS England, the combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic has risen to 333.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic stood at 268, after a new death on Monday (November 15) in addition to deaths on November 9, 10 and 12. At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure remained at 65.

The government’s update, showing the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – stayed at 590 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate stayed at 672 in the most recent data available this week. It shows that eight new deaths occurred in the week leading up to Friday, November 5, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show 199 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result today, slightly down from 201 yesterday.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stand at 143,559. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Wednesday, November 17, 50,679,073 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 46,087,958 have had their second dose. A total of 13,879,311 have had their booster jab or third dose.

In Cornwall 449,904 have had their first jab while 419,072 have had their second.
