A classic rom com adapted for the stage is coming to Helston next year – and you can be part of it.

After the recent success of Movies 2 Musicals, with two of the three shows selling out, Helston Theatre Company is about to cast the musical The Wedding Singer, which is due to arrive on stage in April 2022.

Auditions for anyone wanting to be part of the show are taking place this Wednesday and are open to anyone, including newcomers.

Theatre company chairman Paul Blaber said: “We had three cast members in Movies 2 Musicals who were appearing in their first production with us and we are always keen to see new members joining the company, which is one of the reasons that we hold open auditions where everyone is welcomed.

"It’s an hilarious and joyful show with great parts for a large, all age, ensemble cast and is guaranteed to be a fun production to be involved with."

The cast of The Wedding Singer need to be aged 16 and over but experience is not needed, just enthusiasm, commitment and a sense of fun.

For those who haven't seen the stage show the plot is very similar to the film version with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, but the music is very different as it was written specifically for the musical, taking its inspiration from the 1980s.

To find out more about the show people are invited to attend the launch event this Wednesday at the Warren Hall in The Epworth Centre, Coinagehall Street, Helston at 7.30pm.

However they are asked to let the theatre company know if they plan to attend by calling 07890 780855 or emailing helstontheatre1@live.com, or use the sme contact details if you would like further information prior to the launch.
