The Covid case rate in Cornwall is continuing to rise along with the weekly case figures.

Today's daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly show 351 new people tested positive for the virus in the previous 24 hours, a small decrease on yesterday's figure of 359.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay. The latest data shows a combined 2,230 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Monday, November 15, a rise on yesterday's 2,196 weekly total.

The weekly case rate average has also risen to 387.5 cases per 100,000, up from a 381.6 average yesterday. For this figure the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 63,306.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 40,941 new cases, down from 44,242 cases yesterday.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 9,806,034.

NHS England does not update hospital death figures at the weekend. In the most recent update on Friday, the combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic rose to 335.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic stood at 270, with two new deaths reported in Friday's figures.

Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure remained at 65.

The government’s update, which continues to be updated daily, showing the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – has risen to 595 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case, including three recorded in the last 24 hours.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate stayed at 672 in the most recent data available this week. It shows that eight new deaths occurred in the week leading up to Friday, November 5, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show 150 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result today, slightly down from 157 yesterday.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stand at 143,866. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Thursday, November 18, 50,734,556 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 46,129,532 have had their second dose. A total of 14,614,613 have had their booster jab or third dose.

In Cornwall 450,951 have had their first jab while 419,586 have had their second.
