A RAPIST refused to leave his cell or get in a the van taking him to appear by video link before a judge.

This is the third time Matthew Paul Addison, who has admitted raping and sexually assaulting women in Truro earlier this year, has failed to appear in court.

Adjourning the case until December 21 for sentencing, Judge Robert Linford said he'd had enough of dancing to Addison's tune.

"I am not going to dance to this man's tune any longer," he said on being informed of the news.

"He can be sentenced without a report and I will come to my own conclusions as to whether he is dangerous or not."

Adjourning sentencing to December 21, His Honour Judge Linford said Addison could face a life sentence.

He was told that Addison, 48, had also failed to co-operate with the psychiatrist assigned to compile a report on him for the court ordered at the last hearing when he did appear.

At his last appearance Addison, of St Clements Close, Tregolls, pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, as well as one charge of sexual assault and another of assault by beating.

The offences took place between July 17 and July 18 this year, in Truro.

The 48-year-old pleaded not guilty to a charge of burglary and another of fraud by false representation.
