Driver involved in Wendron crash in Cornwall says he's lucky

The driver of an Audi, who lives in Helston and wanted to remain anonymous, was involved in the collision this morning (Tuesday) between two vehicles that closed the B3297 through Wendron in both directions.

Explaining the incident to the Packet, the driver said: “Myself and three other vehicles were driving in convoy dropping down into Trenear, and as we got down to the right hand bend just before Poldark Mine, I saw him coming."

ONE of the drivers involved in a crash on a road near Wendron has sent a warning about driving in winter, saying he was lucky this time.

He said the back end of one of the cars slid out and in doing so the two cars collided.

The Audi driver, while shaken up, only suffered minor injuries and expressed his relief that the other vehicle’s driver was also not seriously harmed.

“I’m glad he’s okay," he said. "It was very cold and damp.”

Having posted a warning on social media after the crash, the driver said he wanted to spread the warning to other drivers about driving in winter conditions.

The B3297 through Wendron was closed in both directions after the accident from Rowes Lane to Crelly.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said at the time: “Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on the B3297 near Helston at around 7am today (Nov 23).

“Minor injuries have been reported.

“The road is currently closed while recovery of the vehicles is being arranged."
